About the iPod Touch
The iPod Touch from Apple is now in its second generation. The Touch was first launched on 5 September 2007, with the second generation device being unveiled on
9 September 2008. Its primary purpose is as a portable media player to be used in conjunction with Apple's iTunes software.. The unit also functions as a personal
digital assistant and a Wi-Fi mobile platform using its built in wireless technology.
The iPod Touch is available in 8Gb or 16GB versions, both using flash based memory. Web browsing is conducted using Apple's Safari web browsing software. The second
generation Touch introduced a speaker with external volume controls, built in Nike+ fitness functionality and Bluetooth support. A chrome surround was also added
to the second generation.
The most notable feature of the Touch is its touch-screen interface and single physical button. Most navigation of the devices functions are conducted using the screen,
very much like you would on a laptop's touchpad. The home screen shows a list of icons for all of the available applications.
The iPod Touch and the iPhone share the same basic hardware and software, hence their almost identical appearance. The Touch is slightly slimmer than the iPhone due to
the lack of a camera and the iPhones' GSM network technology that enables it to make and receive calls.
The iPod Touch, weather in 8GB or 16GB versions makes a great music player. That it can do so much more is an added bonus. As well as listening to your entire music
collection you can sure the web, check your emails and play games – and this is only a small selection of what it can do. In addition to this the Touch is about so
much more than what it can do. It's about the fun you get from using it and the satisfaction you get from showing off this remarkable little device. Make sure you
